CANTERBURY.

The annual spring show of this society was held in the Alexandra Hall, Christchurch. and was well attended, the building during th' day being so crowded that it was difficult to see the exhibits with comfort. The judges were: Decorative, Mrs T. AV. Stringer; cut flowers, Mr A. E. Lowe: pot plants. Messrs J. T. Sinclair and T. Turner. with 24 and 12 varieties, with Messrs Jones and F. Biggs second. For 18 varieties Mr Jones scored over Mr Bayliss. Mr R. H. Gainsford secured first and second prices for hyacinths, and Mr A. M. Price for tulips. In the amateur class Mr A. G. Bull secured first prize for-24 varieties; Mr A. Reeves second for 36, 12, and six varieties. Mr G. Rutherford came first with a splendid lot. of blooms. Mr Rutherford also won several other prizes. Mr F. Merry also staged some very fine blooms, and was successful in winning several prizes. Bull (Poeticus —Cassandra). K * OPAWA. At the annual spring flower show held at Opawa. Christchurch, last week, the Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes sent a lovely, lot of blooms for exhibition only. There were some really fine blooms staged in.the com’petitive classes, and the chief prize-winners for daffodils were Mrs J. F. Scott, Mrs Delahunt, Mrs Angus, Mr JJoyd, and Mr H. L. Oakes. Beautiful collections of : spring flowers were set up by Messrs A. AV. Buxton (nurserymen), Miss Durnau, Mrs Angus, Mrs G. E. Collins, and others. GERALDINE. There were a nice lot of narcissi staged at the Geraldine spring show, the entries numbering 130. Mr J. Allan, of Timaru, acted as judge, and expressed himself as well pleased with the fine display of blooms, considering the backwardness of the season. For daffodils. Airs Cliff. Mrs A. McLean, G. A. M. Macdonad, Mr J. Sim air Thomson, and Mrs AV. A. Sherrat were the principal winners. ROTORUA. There was a very large attendance at thK show, held in the Assembly Hall last month. Mr F. Hall, who acted as judge, said he considered the exhibits were far in advance of previous years, and complimented the society upon the very line display of daffodils. 'l’he principal exhibitors were the Rev. A. Tindall, who put up a very fine stand of 70 varieties for the best general collection. and easily secured the first prize; Mr P. J. . Hammond coining second with 45 varieties; and the AVhaka Nursery third with 16 varieties. For the best collection of 12 varieties, Mr P. J. Hammond secured first prize; with Mr J. llalket a good second. For the best six varieties, Mr J. llalket was first, and Mrs F. M. Lyons second. For three varieties, Mr A. F. Bent won with some nice blooms; Miss Gardner second. 'l’he prize for the champion trumpet was awarded to Mr J. A. llalket, and for the champion flat cup. Mr B. Keyes was the winner. In addition to the daffodils there was a pretty display of spring flowers ami decorated tables.
