October 5. Bulb Show. The bulb display, held on Saturday in Ithe business premises of His Majesty’s Theatre, under the auspices of the Marlborough Horticultural Society, was most Successful. There was a good attendance at the display both in the afternoon and (evening. Among those I noticed present iwere: Mrs Fred Redwood, Mrs W. (.Houston, Mrs Bennett, Mrs Walker, Mrs and (Miss Laura Wolferstan, Mrs Adam Bell, Miss Rene Horton, Mrs G. Lucas, Mrs J. White, Misses Connie and Zoe (Houston, Mrs Howard, Miss I’earl Bell, Miss Urquhart, Mrs Smale. Dance. A most enjoyable little dance was held In the Orange Hall on Tuesday evening. music was supplied by Messrs Cheers and Fleming. A dainty supper tvas arranged on the stage, the table being tastefully decorated with spring bulbs and yellow roses. Among those present were: Mrs W. (Houston, black chiffon taffeta, black and silver scarf: Mrs Hulme, white satin; Mrs Walker, pale green charmeuse relieved with pretty pink rose; Mrs Powell, black velvet; — Shaw, pale pink ninon over pink Batin; Misses Whelan, pink silk; — Farmer, pale blue ninon over blue satin, with Oriental embossed embroideries; Miss Dec ini a Horton, white muslin with black velvet; Miss Nellie Mount, black velvet; Miss Kathleen Seollard, black velvet; ’ — Greenwood (Wellington), white taffeta, with overdress of white ninon; ■ — M. McNab, shot .silk; Miss Doris Fisher, white taffeta, -with overdress of white ,ninon; — D. McKay, white satin, with ■handsome white lace overdress with touches of blue; Miss Connie Clouston, white ninon over white taffeta; Miss Zoe (Houston, black velvet; Messrs Mortimore, Reid, Mouat, Golding, Bird, GalloWay, Hill, Robertson, Powell, Appelby. Personal. Mrs Revell is visiting relations in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Broughton have left for a holiday to Auckland and Rotorua. Mrs Adams ("Langley Dale”) was in town during the week. Miss Rene Horton has been spending a -few weeks with Mrs A. Bell (“Riverlands”) . Miss ('. Hall has returned from visiting her sister, Mrs Seymour Richmond. Mrs L. Ball is visiting friends in Wellington. Miss K. Ball has returned from her holiday to Nelson.
Mrs Elliot Meade has gone to Wellinglon for a few days. Mr and Mrs C. Teshemaker-Shute left on Thursday to spend a week in Wellingt on. Miss Ross (Wellington) is visiting her sister, Mrs Hylton. Mr and Mrs Watts (“Lansdowne”) are at present in Nelson.
