September 28. Young Folks'.Dance. Most unique and enjoyable was the young folks' dance, given by a committee of five young ladies (Alisscs O. Jury, Jenkins (2), L. Burkitt, and AL Jones), and held in the Clifton Hall on Thursdayevening. The music was supplied by Air J. Taylor, with extras by- Alisscs Hellicr, Jenkins, and Carr, and Master L. Feck and Air Newstroski (violin). The chaperons were the Mayoress (Mrs AV. Jenkins), attired in grey, with Oriental trimmings, and grey ninon scarf; Afrs Hellicr, handsome gown of black taffetas; Afrs Jury, lace blouse, dark skirt; Airs Brassinglon, black, trimmed rich silk insertion; Airs Langman, shell pink silk voile; Airs Trim, Airs Chirr, and Airs Tubb. Aliss O. Jury wore a pretty cream frock, trimmed rich lace, large revere; Aliss AL Jenkins, dainty white lawn, white satin pipings and buttons; Aliss Al. Jenkins, cream cashmere, pretty French grey trimmings, coral ornaments; Aliss L. Burkitt, hand embroidered muslin; Aliss AL Jones, cream silk, relieved with green. Among others present I noticed: Alisscs Foreman, Jenkins, Spurdie (2), Johnston. T. Langman, Al. Trim, Carr (2), and AlcCormick, Messrs Spurdie (2), E. Clare, L. Birdling, McKoy, Jones, Afanu-AVliile, Frost, Taylor, Tate. Newstroski, Trim, Holmes, Black, Jury, Hoskins, and Smith.

A Waltzing Competition. The waltzing competition in connection with the Druids' euchre parties took place yesterday evening, the winning couple being Aliss Hilda Spurle and .Air J. Taylor. Personal.

Afrs AV. Birdling left by- Friday’s express on a short visit to Christchurch. Air S. C. Eggleston, of the local firm of Thos. Borthwick and Sons, has been transferred to their Melbourne office, iiml left on Tuesday to take up his new duties.
