At the time of writing. the mine-workers employed l»y the Waihl G.M. Co. and the Waihi Grand Junction G.M. Co., were still out on strike. In all. about 2000 miners are eoncerned. ind they with their wives and families represent alsmt .'<«*» persons who are practically dependent on continuation of work in these big properties. The strike means a loss to the Waihl miners of t't’sNNi a week in wages, and as credit has practically been st oppt »d by shopkeepers, along-delayed settlement must involve severe distress. In the meantime the parties con'cerned—the miners, the companies, and the Englne-driveis* Inion—are standing firm, and the next move rests with the Federation of I.alstur.
