February 24. Croquet Party. A small croquet party was given on Friday by Mrs. Wilding at “Fownhope,” Opawa. The players included: Mrs. G. G. Stead, Mrs. J. C. Palmer, Mrs. A. Reeves, Miss Helmore, Mrs. Raymond, Mrs. Wood. Mrs. Stedman. Airs. A. C. Wilson, and Mrs. Na near row. Farewell at Home. An “At Home” was given by Mrs. McKee at “Merriden,” Merivale, on Friday afternoon as a farewell to her daughter (Miss McKee), who has since left for England. Amongst the numerous guests were several of Mrs. and Miss McKee’s old pupils.

The Theatre Royal. The Miss Ethel living Company are having a. most successful season at the Theatre Royal. The opening matches of the annual polo tournament for the Rhodes Cup took place on Wednesday afternoon. Among those present were: Mrs. Stead. Mrs. G. Mr. and Mrs. Wigram, who were staying at Mt. Peel, have returned to Christchurch. Miss Ogle, of Christchurch, who has been visiting Mrs. Wells, at Ashburton, has returned to town. Miss Thomas, of Christchurch, is paying a short visit to Mrs. Acton-Adams (Te Papa). Mrs. C. Hawkins, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. Francis, at Merivale. Mrs. and Miss Murchison, of Lake Coleridge, are spending a few days in Christchurch. The polo visitors to Christchurch include: Mr. and Mrs. A. Elworthy, of Timaru, Mr. and Mrs. H. Elworthy, Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford, of Culverden, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ensor, of Waiau. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hall have returned to town from Horarata, where they have been staying for some time. Mrs. Wigram and party, of Christchurch. left on Thursday for the North Island. Mr. and Mrs. Black, who have been the guests of Mrs. Nancarrow, have returned to Dunedin.
