December On Tuesday of last week a picnic was •held fbr the school children. Th* train started’ at 9 o’clock with over 1(100 young people, for Waikohn. The weather was beaut.iful early in the da/. but heavy showers fell during the afternoon, which more or less spoilt the picnic for the children. Great, efforts wyrv made on all sides to make the outing a success. Mrs. G. Smith gave a garden party at her pretty home on the river bank ’to help avith the funds, and several people sent fheqites, as well as others who collected good istims. o - Major C. Afrs. and Miss Alurray have returned home after their visit to Auckland. Alii. Stevenson paid a flying visit to Ciaborhe last week, staying with her Sister, Airs. L. T. Symes, AVha taupoko. Airs. IT. B. Ltrsk "and dhe~"two Taiska are staying with Mrs. AV. 1.. Itees, Th idgewadttr, for Christmas. ATr. and Mrs. E. Lamont Garr left last week for Sydney.
