HAWERA, October 27. Probably owing to the wet and unbroken weather, things socially have been decidedly slack for the past fortnight. Next week the Ladies’ Alusical Society are rendering the cantata, "Westward Ho!” to be followed by the burlesque ’’Women’s Parliament,” the proceeds to go in aid of the Pavilion Fund of the Tennis and Croquet Club. Weather permitting, the courts will be opened on November 4. Personal. Airs A. Thomson (Wellington) is staying with Dr. and Airs Thomson Airs Hunter (Dannevirke) is the guest of Airs Nolan. Airs Hewitt (Palmerston North) is the guest of her daughter, Airs Dan Willis. Air and Airs W. D. Johnson have returned from their honeymoon, spent in Wellington. Aliss B. Nolan is on a visit to Waverley. Airs and Aliss Toliks, who have been spending a short holiday in New Plymouth, have returned home. Airs A. Good has returned from Wellington. Air G. Glenn is on a visit to Auckland, JOAN.
