September 27. Surprise Party. A most enjoyable surprise party took place last Friday evening at Mrs. J. Blair’s pretty house on the Kaiti. Mrs. J. Blair wore net over silk, a pretty sequin hair ornament and osprey; Miss Evans, primrose velvet relieved with emerald green; Miss Blanche Bradley, white muslin; Miss B. Murray, black lace over pink silk; Miss B. Blaek, pale blue ninon; Miss AL Rees, white satin, with touches of pink; Miss Agnew Brown, cream net and black velvet; Miss Z. Williams, pink floral ninon; Miss U. Williams, white satin, braided tunic; Miss F. Davies, white net over silk; Miss N. Davies, white satin; Miss Murchison (Christchurch), blaek velvet; Messrs O’Brien, Smith (2) Sheiruing, It. Evans, Irving, Willoek, Hamilton, Dodgshun, Jeffries, Kells, Murray. Personal. Mr and Mrs R. Willoek are spending a short holiday in Wellington. Mrs William Adair arrived home last Wednesday from England, and » at present staying with Mrs A. F. Kennedy. Mrs E. Stevenson left this morning for Melbourne and Sydney. Miss Murchison is the guest of Mr» G. T. Black.
