CAMBRIDGE SPRING FLOWER SHOW.

The third annual spring flower show and: sale of work under the auspices of the Cambridge Presbyterian Church took place in the Town Hall on September 8 and 9, and passed' off very successfully. The entries were larger than the previous year, and as the committee provided much improved staging accommodation in the way of tiered tables draped in green, a much more effective display was made. The judges were Dr. and Mrs. Douglas, of Hamilton, for table de-

eorations, ett., and Mr. A. E. GrihdrtM, of Auckland, for cut flowers and pot plants. The exhibition' was formally opened by the Mayor. Mr. G. Dickinson, after which Mr. Griiidrod addressed a few remarks to daffodil growers with regard to growing and showing this flower.

The popular spring flower is securing more devotees in the district, as evidenced by the number of new exhibitors, but unfortunately some of them neglected to study the classification of the flowers and the schedule, with the result that several exhibits were “out of court,” Mr. W. F. Buckland, the leading loeal grower, being engaged in the Supreme Court at Hamilton on the opening day, was unable to stage an exhibit then, but put up a nice lot of 'blooms on the second day, Miss Mells also augmenting the show by a collection of pot plants. A collection of about 30 good cheap varieties of daffodils suitable for beginners was staged 'by Mr. Grindrod, and attracted considerable attention. The table decorations ami other decorative classes were very creditably tilled, and the Cambridge ladies are to be congratulated on their very tasteful display.
