>- LONDON, August 18. Mr Jesse Piper, J.P., who for several years was mayor of Nelson, has with his wife been staying at Hastings, his native town. Mr and Mrs Hiper will spend som? time in Yorkshire. Scotland and Ireland Before returning to New Zealand in October. ,Dr Leonard 11. Mcßride, of Otago, reached here a few weeks ago by the lonic, and proposes to be here for the •next two or three years working at London hospitals. He has just joined the Middlesex Hospital staff, and is working there for k<s Royal College of Surgeon? diploma. Dr Mcßride wiill play football with the Middlesex Hospital team this season. Mr Paul Eastham. of Auckland, has been in England for the past three months. On the Ist September he leave* for Paris and Marseilles, where he joins the Orient liner Orsova.
