HAMILTON.
August 25. Shakespeare Society. The Hamilton Shakespeare Club selected for its last reading "Much Ado About Nothing,” and was listened to with great interest by a fairly large audience. The cast is quite a large one, all the parts being very creditably taken. Miss Gillespie, as “Beatrice,” was particularly good, as was also Mr. Manning’s representation of Benedick, while Mr. MeNicol was Constable Dogberry to the life. The Club intend giving a reading of “Paolo Francesca” on Saturday night next, when Professor Walker, from Auckland, will assist them. Hockey. The Ladies’ Hockey Club journeyed to Auckland on Saturday last to play a match against the Rawhitis at Remuera. Mrs. Jackson kindly chaperoned the team, while several other ladies also joined, forming a merry party. The game resulted in a win for the visitors by 3 goals to nil. In the evening the whole party went to hear the "Areas dians,” which they enjoyed immensely. Personal. Mrs. Brewis is leaving on Monday for a holiday in Sydney. She expects to be away four or five weeks. Mrs. Noble has exchanged houses for a few weeks with a friend in Devonport. Miss Chitty is on a visit to Christ-
church.
