June 9. Coming-out Dance. The dance which was given by Mrs. Phillips (The Point) at the Alexandra Hall was a most delightful affair, the occasion being the “eoming-out” of Miss Margery Phillips. The performance of “In Chancery,” which was given at the Theatre Royal by the members of the Canterbury Dramatic Amateurs, in aid of local charities, passed off very successfully on Monday evening. and the attendance was good. It is to be hoped the financial results were as good as the performance was entitled to. The Christchurch Mandolin Orchestra gave an enjoyable concert on Thursday night at the Choral Hall. Personal. Aliss Pollard (England) is the guesC of Airs. F. de C. Malet (Papanui-road). Mrs. and the Misses Tabart have returned to Christchurch from a visit to the North Island. Mrs. and Aliss Julius have returned to Christchurch from a lengthened stay in Timaru. Aliss Aloorhouse (Christchurch) is staying with friends in Timaru. Mrs. lan Deans (Homebush) is staying with friends in Christchurch. Airs. Herbert Elworthy (Timaru) is the guest of Mrs. Ranald Alacdonald ("Hambleden,” Bealey-avenue). Airs. S. Cox and Aliss Alacgregor. who have been visiting friends in Christchurch have returned to Wellington. Airs. Henry Brett (Auckland) is visiting her daughters (the Mesdames Wood) at St. Alban's (Christchurch).
