AUCKLAND.

ATURDAY was one of those b'rillimit days when one generally X_z finds that few or no good scores are handed in. The weather was almost too good. There were 60 competitors for the George Cup Bogey Handicap Match, the winner being H. Horton, who, with a handicap of 14, was three up on the “colonel.” The best of the other cards were: 11. T. Gillies, handicap 5,2 up; D. Hay (12), 1 up; J. J. Kingston (20), 1 up; D. MacCormiek (4), all square. The captain's prize tourney will commence next Saturday. The conditions are, match play partners being drawn and players being divided into A and B grades. A prize will be given for each grade. All players who wish to take part must hand in their names to the secretary not later than Friday next. Maungakiekie. A ladies’ three-round medal match (best card) for a prize presented by Mrs Alex. Ferguson, will be played on the 17th, 24th, and 31st of this month. Entries close next Saturday at 2 p.m. at the clubhouse. In these matches all competitors are especially requested to hand in their cards at the end of each round. The first round of the men’s threeround medal match took pice on Saturday at One Tree Hill. The following were the best scores handed in:—D. There was a good entry for the first medal handicap, which was played on Saturday in fine weather conditions. The course was in perfect order, and the greens good. Smyth, 6 down; F. Marriott. 8 down. WELLINGTON. The Wellington Club. The 16th annual meeting of the Wellington Golf Club, held on Friday, May 5, was attended by about 120 members. The chairman (Mr. A. MeCosh Clark), in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, dealt exhaustively with the reasons for the increase in expenditure last year, and stated that, though the club had spent a lot of money, yet the members realised that they had received good value for it. The election of officers for the ensiling year resulted as follows: President, Sir Joseph Ward; VicePresidents, Messrs. A. MeCosh Clark arzl J. A. Pike; Captain, W. At the conclusion of the annual meeting a special meeting was held to consider proposed alterations to the rules, the most important of which, viz., relating to green fees to be charged to visitors, was carried, subject to Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin adopting the same scale of charges. The proposed alteration to Rule 3 (that the Secretary ami Treasurer be appointed by the Committee) was. after an interesting disOussion, negatived on the voices.

Hutt ▼. Wellington. WELLINGTON, Saturday. The first inter-club match of the sea son, between the Hutt and Wellingtoi Golf Clubs, was played to-day at tie Heretaunga links in perfect weather. The mixed foursome bogey matcli was won by Mrs Harding and Mi McLean. Among those present were: Mrs Montgomrie, Miss OTlalloran, Miss Haybittie.

The Hamilton Golf Club opened their Jinks for play for the season of 1911 on Saturday last. It was a perfect day, and quite a large number of players and visitors were present. Dr. Dotrglas, the president, in his opening speech, referred to the lurgely-ineresaing membership, which was a very satisfactory indication of the progress of the club. What was known as the old golf links had again been leased the site of which was perfect, and the course would very soon be second to none in the Waikato. He enjoined all members to further the interests of the club in every way, and then declared the links open. During the afternoon mixed foursomes were played, the winners being Miss Ring and Mr. Bond, with a net score of 40, other scores 'being:—Mrs. Holloway and Mr. McLeod, 42; Mrs. Stewart and Mr E. J.
