HEAVY POLLING AT THE WELLINGTON MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS—SNAPS AROUND THE BOOTHS.
Municipal elections in \>w -Zealand are generally noteworthy from the fact that only a very small percentage of ratepayers •trouble their heads over them, while the others appear not to care a straw whatever happens. This year the interest was much keener, and in Wellington, where three issues had to lie decided—the Municipal election, the Harbour Board election, ami the half-holiday question —about 17.000 voters out a roll number of 21 >.030 went to the polls. Even these figures are nothing wonderful, but they are an improvement.
