Last Friday Mrs. H. Bayly gave a very enjoyable afternoon tea. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Paterson. Mrs. Imlay Saunders. Mrs. Gonville Saunders, Mrs. P. Krull. Mrs. Mackay, Mrs. Addi.son. Miss Hawken, Miss R. Hawken, Miss Krull, Miss Thompson (Australia), Miss C. Anderson, Miss Brettargh. Miss D. Brettargh, Mrs. Gill- Carey, Mrs. Fairburn, and others.

Progressive Tennis. The weather was very warm on Saturday, when a progressive tournament was played on the croquet courts for a prize presented by Mrs. John Anderson. Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Hine tied for the prize, and in the play off Mrs. Harper was victorious. Mrs. Stone had the next best score. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Stone, Miss Browne, Mrs. Paterson, Mrs. Innes, Mrs. Howarth, Mrs. Gordon, Mrs. Sarjeant, Miss Anderson. Miss Gresson, Airs Hine, Mrs. H. Harper, Mr. Gordon. Mr. Ritchie, Mr. R. Stevenson, Mr. Sarjeant. On Saturday a number of tennis players go to Patea to play the loeal team. Those representing Wanganui are: Mrs. Gordon. Mrs. Hesse. Miss Cave, Miss Williams, Miss Newcombe, and Miss Darley, Messrs. Clark, Thompson. Marshall. Lea. Lampe. Dr. Christie. Reserves: Miss Davey. Mrs. Slipper and McCarthy. Madame Dolores' Concert.

There was a large number at the Opera House last week to hear Antonia Dolores sing. Everybody was eharmed with her beautiful voice, and general regret was expressed when it was announced she would not be able to sing at the second concert, but we are all looking to hearing her this week. Amongst the audience I noticed: Mrs. Sorley, Mrs. A. Izard, Miss M. Lethbridge, Miss G. Anderson. Mrs. D'Arcy. Mrs. McLean, Miss D. McLean, Mrs. John Anderson, Miss W. Anderson, Miss Williams. Mrs, Mackay, Mrs. A. E. Kilehen. Miss Willis, Miss Hawken, and many others Personal. Mrs.'Good, of Wanganui, has returned from her visit to Rangitikei. “ - - Mrs. Wall, of Wanganui, has returned from her visit to Wellington. Mr. Fairburn, of Wanganui, has gone to Auckland for a holiday. Mrs: A. Izard, of .Wanganui, is at present staying in Wellington with friends. Mrs. E. Marshall, of Rangitikei, is the guest of Mrs. Gifford Marshall in Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. Hole Belmont (Wanganui i have gone to Rotorua for some weeks. Mr. A.
