A most enjoyable evening was given by Mr. and Mrs. Riddell at their residence, Cam House, on Thursday last to farewell Mr. and Mrs. Vickers, who are having six months’ holiday. The house was decorated, also the supper table with roses of all kinds. Mrs. Riddell received her guests in black sequined net, made with a cream silk underbodice ; Mrs. Vickers wore dark silk, trimmed with fur; Mrs. Allen, black merv. and white lace; Mrs. Healey, white satin, with beautiful white lace; Mrs. IL Robinson, white ehiffon taffeta; Mrs. Nicol, black silk and chiffon; Mrs. Lucena, black silk. A Farewell Evening. Another evening was given for Air. and Airs. Vickers on Friday by Mrs. and the Alisses Allen, at the Wilderness, Broadway. Afrs. Allen wore black; Afiss E. 'AI. Allen, black; Afiss Belle Allen, green shantung; Mrs. A’ickers, cream corded silk; Afrs. S. Fell, ‘black sequined net; Airs. T. Cawte (Alahakipawa), heliotrope satin; Mrs. Haughey, pink striped silk; Afrs. Madsen, blue crystalline; Airs. Riddell, heliotrope silk; Afrs. Nicol, vieux rose silk; Airs. H. Godfrey, black; Afrs. Afaitland, phiincoloured satin; Afrs. Healey, pale pink silk; Afrs. Wilkin (Christchurch), brown silk; Airs. C. Philpotts, tomato-red silk; Afiss Dawkins, blue net; Afiss Scott, white silk; Miss Philpotts, pink crystalline; Miss Beswick, white silk; Dr. ■Paterson, dream silk; Afiss Greensill, white silk; Afiss Fuller, pink crystalline; Miss Gregg, white French cambric muslin, beautifully embroidered; Afiss Wallace, black chiffon; and Afiss Wallace, white. The men present were—Messrs. Vickers, Rutherford, Riddell, Haughey, Shaw, Dawkins, Fell, Healey, Stocker, Hunter, Cawte, and Captain Carey. The first prizes were won by Miss Dawkins and Air. Rutherford, and the boobies by Airs. Cawte and Air. Shaw. The supper table and rooms generally were decorated with Japanese anemones —white and pale pink—and after supper the tables were cleared from the large room, and the young people danced. Tennis. On Saturday Afrs. Philpotts gave a tennis afternoon for Mrs. Vickers, there being present—Mrs. and Afisses Philpotts (2), Airs. Wilkins, Mrs. Vickers, Afrs. Riddell, Afrs. H. C. Seymour, Misses Scott, Allen, Wallace (2), Greensill. # Personal. Riflemen A. Henderson, of Kenepuru, and H. Cuthbertson, of Tua Afarina, are the Alarlborough men chosen to represent New Zealand at Bisley. Air. W. Alasefield, of Afanaroa, Pelorus Sound, was also chosen, but is unable to go. Dr. Anderson, an inspector of the Education Department, Wellington, and Afrs. Anderson are in Picton. Air. J. G. Ballard, formerly postmaster in Picton, is in town on departmental business. Mr. Toogood, formerly of Singapore, and now city engineer for Hokitika, paid a short visit to his sister, Airs. Madsen, this week. Afiss Urquhart (Blenheim) spent a day or two with Airs. Redman this week.

Dr. and Afrs. Redman leave to-day for a holiday trip to Dunedin.
