March 22. A Concert. On Thursday evening Mdlle. Dolores made her first appearance here before a large gathering in the Town Hall. Throughout the evening the audience demonstrated in a most warm-hearted manner its thorough appreciation of the delightful musical treat given by the singer. Mr. Selwyn Shrimplin played the accompaniments delightfully, and also contributed several pianoforte solos, for which he earned hearty’ recall. Among the audience I noticed: Mr. and Mrs. Florence, Mr. and Mrs. Wolferstan, Mr. and Mrs. Teschemaker-Shute, Mr. and Mrs. Howard, Mrs. J. Tesnemaker, Mrs. C. Mills, Mrs. Gard, Mrs. W. 'Clouston, Mrs. J. Mowat, Mr. and Mrs. Stace, Mrs. F. Bull, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Fell (Picton), Mrs. Adams, Mrs. R. Adams, Mrs McCallum, Mrs Northcroft, Mrs. B. Clouston, Misses Murphy, Florence, Clouston (2), Neville (2), Gard’, Wolferstan, Griffiths, Anderson, Grace, Mowat, Maclaine.

St. Patrick’s Day. There was a very large audience in the Town Hall for St. Patrick’s concert on Friday evening. Some of those I noticed were: Mrs. R. McCallum, Mrs. Florence, Mrs. Revell, Mrs. Canavan, Mrs. F. Redwood, Mrs. L. Griffiths, Mrs. Waddy, Mrs. Northcroft, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. Mcßae, Misses Florence, MacDonald, Fisher, Redwood (2), Northcroft, Morrison, Griffiths, Messrs. Redwood, Fisher, Hill (Solomon Islands), Griffiths, McCallum, Revell, Florence (2), Brittain, Canavan., Tennis. There was a fair number at the Marlborough lawn tennis courts on Saturday afternoon, when tea was given by Mrs. Wolferstan. Amongst those present were: Mrs. McCallum, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. B. Clouston, Mrs. Marsh, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Sharpe, Mrs. Griffiths, Misses Davis (2), Burden, Neville, Anderson, Harley, Barnett, Clouston (2), Wolferstan (3), Marsh, Messrs Burden. Davis, Sharp, Rutherford (Pieton), Churchward, Brock, Dr. Bennett, and Anderson. Personal. Miss M. Anderson (Nelson) is the guest of her sister, Miss Anderson, Max-well-road. Miss Bell is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. Bell at “Flaxmere.” Miss Leslie and Miss Loveridge (Sydney) left for Nelson on Saturday.Mr. W. Tomlinson (Ashburton) spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Neville at “Thurston.” Mr. R. Hill (Solomon Islands) is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Griffiths at “The Barton.”, Mr. and Miss Brittain arc visiting Nelson. Mr. E. Florence returned to Gisborne on Wednesday after a short holiday with "bis parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Flo rcnce. JEAN.
