February 24. A Delightful Dance was given on Friday evening at Fendalton -by- Air. George Humphreys (Consul for France), in honour of Commander Tiercelin and the officers of the French warship Kersaint. By special request a final concert will be given on Monday evening. Madame’s repertoire is wonderful. Wood, Misses Patterson (2), Captain Harris (China), Mr and Mrs George Harris, Mrs and Miss Symes, Miss Park, Miss Fulton, Dr. and Mrs Fox, Mrs Alan Campbell, Misses M'eares (2), Bloxam (2), Rose, Wilson, Mrs Rose, Mrs C. F. Thomas, Mrs Nancarrow, and Miss Ross. Personal. An afternoon tea was given on Saturday by the nursing staff of the Christchurch Hospital, as a farewell to Miss Kitto, who has been appointed matron of the Greymouth Hospital. Miss Reeves, who has been visiting tire North Island, returned last week. Mrs C. Wynn-Williams has arrived from the North Island. She is the guest of Mrs Wynn-Williams. Lady Mills and Miss Mills are spending a few days in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs D. Westenra (Dunsandalf are the guests of Mrs Nicholls at Mans-field-avenue, St. Albans. Mrs P. H. Johnson (Mt. Torlesse) has been the guest of Mrs C. Reid, Merivale. Miss M'acfarlane, who has been staying with friends in Christchurch, has returned to Napier. Miss Loughnan, of Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs Ranald Macdonald, Bealeya venue. Miss Denniston has returned from Palmerston. Mrs Arthur Kennedy has returned to Napier. Visitors to Christchurch include: Mrs Maitland Rich, “Wairuna”; Mrs E. Grigg, Ashburton; Miss Ewing, Wellington; and Miss Wroughton, Ashburton. ... Mrs Denniston is staying with friends in Dunedin. Mrs Lance has returned from Nelson. The Misses Hanmer have been visiting friends in Dannevirke. Miss Ensor is staying at Pieton.
