November 18. Tennis. The weather has been glorious, and the tennis courts have been well ,>atronised. Afrs. Crawsha.w gave a delightful tea on Saturday afternoon. Amongst those present I noticed:—Mrs. Budge, Airs. Wake, Afrs. France, Afrs. Rf-nnell, Miss Wake, Miss Fussell, Afrs. Page, Afiss Glynes, Mr. Wake, Mr. O. Vaughan, Mr. Stanford, Mr. and Mrs. Wilkie, Mr. Thompson, the Afisses James, etc Croquet. A croquet match was -played between Inglewood and Stratford on the Club lawns on Thursday. The following represented Stratford:—Airs. Munroe, Mrs. Dingle, Miss Dingle, Mrs. Wake, Aliss Moore, Miss Afunroe. The Inglewood team -included: Mrs. Orbell, Mrs. Hamerton, Afrs. Haworth, Mrs. A’acomb, Mrs; Rogens, and Airs. O’ChrroTl. Bowling. The first of a series of 'bowling matches was placed on Thursday, the greens looking quite perfect. The match was Ancient v. Modern, resulting in a win for the Ancients, 107 to 99. The following entries have been received for the championship match: —J. Masters, Smart, Wake, Morrison, Sangster, J. Af. Thomson, S. Porritt, G. N. Curtis, N. King, Currie, MacDonald, J. Spenee, N. Black, Newton, C. Penn, G. and F. J. Jaekson, A. Spence. The Hawera Bowling Club intend playing a game with Stratford on Wednesday afternoon, November 30. Sale of Work. The Pandita Ramaibai Indian sale of work presided over by the ever-gracious Airs. Prida-m, drew great numbers yesterday and to-day. Amongst those present were:—Afrs. Glasgow, wearing a pretty striped heliotrope linen costume, hat en suite; Afrs. Budge, becoming salmon pink linen coat and skirt, large hat with wings; Airs. Dillon Carbery, black Shantung coat and skirt, feather boa, large black hat; Afrs. Gall (Inglewood) ; Airs. Uniacke, pretty rose-col-oured costume, large chip hat with roses; Airs. Bjeslop (Inglewood), striped blue costume, large black hat; Mrs. J. C. Fookes, becoming heliotrope cotton with toque to match; Afrs. S. Porritt, embroidered muslin, -black hat; Mrs. Pagel, smart pink crepon costume, large hat to match; Afrs. Robinson, blue linen; Afiss Glynes, brown striped linen, large dark .blue hat; Afrs. W. 11. A'oung, green eoat and skirt, large blaek hat; Airs. Richards, white embroidered linen, blue -hat; Afrs. Craiwshaw, white linen with dark blue toque; Mrs. Clark, blue linen coat and skirt; Mtas Clark, green cloth coat and skirt; Aliss Fussell, white linen, large hat; Miss Orbell, white muslin, white hat; Afrs. Afackay; tile Afisses Afackay; Aliss Jones; and many others. Personal. Afrs. Hugh Good is in New Plymouth on a visit to Afrs. Capel. Afrs. A. Rcnnel is spending a short holiday in Hawcra. Afr. and All’s. Campbell Raikes are at present in Auckland. Mrs. France is visiting her sister, Afr-a Wako, in Stratford. Airs. Pagel returned from a visit to Plymouth. Air. and Afrs. Bond have returned from Hawcra.
