Let me say that in no part of the Empire is so keen an interest felt in the work of the expedition as in New Zealand. That is proved by the generosity of the Government in giving the munificent sum of £looo—an amount which I feel sure I am safe in saying will be doubled by private donations. — Captaiii Scott.
