SHIRLEY—SIEVERS. [ VERY pretty motor wedding • I was solemnised at St. John’s 4 J A Church, .Wanganui, on Thursday, October 20, the contracting parties being Mr. Ernest Forbes Shirley, of Auckland, and Miss Olive Louis Sievers (Nicholas), of Wanganui. The Ven. Archdeacon Jacob officiated. The bride, who was given away by Ker uncle, Mr. J. C. Richardson, looked charming in a beautiful gown of cream striped ninon de soie, trimmed with silk insertion, ■silk fringe, and tassels. She carried a lovely shower bouquet, and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She was attended by two little bridesmaids -—Misses Stella Richardson and Theima Carroll, cousins of the bride. They were attired in long white silk dreseses trimmed *n gold, and wore pretty poke bonnets, and carried shepherd’s erooks. The duties of liest man were carried out by Mr. J. Shirley, brother of the bridegroom. The guests were afterwards entertained at the residence of Mr. J. C. Richardson, Victoria-avenue, where the usual toasts were proposed. The bridesmaids’ presents were gold bangles, while the bridegroom’s present to the bride was a turquoise necklet; the bride’s present to the bridegroom being a gold ring and curb chain. The bride’s goingaway dress was a pale blue tailor-made costume, and a pretty hat trimmed with pink roses and white lilac. Wrisberg (sister of bride), floral delaine Empire gown trimmed w'ith net and silk, black searf, black "Dolly Varden” hat, pink roses; Miss Richardson, cream crepe cloth trimmed with silk insertion, saxe blue hat; Miss Shirley (Napier), claret crepon, cream hat; Mrs. Webb Jones, brown chiffon taffeta, cream yoke, braided panels, heliotrope toque; Miss Jones, vieux rose frock, cream hat; Miss Violet Jones, mauve delaine, hat with pink roses; Mrs. Carrell, green tailor-made, hat en suite; Mrs. A. A. Gower, deep cream merv., mauve toque, pink roses; Mrs. Jacob, mole cloth gown, black hat; Mrs. N. Meuli, black chiffon taffeta, relieved with cream, black plumed hat, heliotrope scarf; Miss Meuli, cream silk, blue silk hat; Miss Nina Meuli, cream silk, cream hat; Mrs. Swan, amethyst crepe cloth, large black hat; Miss Swan, bronze green silk voile, large green hat, pink rcses; Miss Elthel Cooeh, white embroidered frock, mauve hat; Mrs. Henry Duigan, green linen tailor-made, cream hat, pink roses; Mrs. Dodd, champagne frock, brown hat; Mrs. A. A. Fantham, white flowered muslin, hat trimmed with lilac. KING—COSTER. All Saints Church, Nelson, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on October 25. when Mr. George Augustus King, of Gien-iti, Nelson, was married to Miss Nancy Coster, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coster, Cambria-street, Nelson. The bride, who was given away by her father, was handsomely gowned in white satin charmeuse. and she wore the usual veil and wreath of orange blossom. The bridesmaids were Miss Coster (sister of the bride) and Miss King (sister of the bridegroom ), and they wore pretty frocks of white muslin and white hats lined with shell pink ehiffon. The best man was Mr. Richard King, and the groomsman Mr. Carrol Harley. At the conclusion of the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. W. S. Lucas, Vicar of All Saints’, a reception was held at “Witheridge,” the residence of the bride’s parents. The bride and bridegroom left

by motor-ear later in the afternoon for Belgrove. A very pretty wedding was celebrated at the Cathedral, Nelson, on October 25, when Mr. Bernard Scowcroft, son of Mr. John Scowcroft, of “Sterndale House,” Buton, England, and of Cachoeira, Maceio, Brazil, was married to Miss Astrid Brusewitz, eldest daughter of Mr. H. Brusew itz, of Nelson. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in white eloth, trimmed with Maltese lace. She was attended by her sister (Miss Daga Brusewitz), who Wore a dainty frock of floral muslin and a floral hat, Mr. Herbert Brusewitz asted as best man. The wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. P. Kempthorne, Vicar of the Cathedral. The bride and bridegroom departed for Wellington, en route for Western Australia, where their future home will be. POPE—MILLS. A very quiet wedding of interest to folks in Christchurch and Nelson was held at Cheltenham at the residence of the bride on the 17th October. The parties were Mr. Richard Charles Pope and Mrs. Alice Maria Mills, widow of the late Mr. George Mills. The bride looked very niee in a black cashmere dress, trimmed with lace and white cap and orange blossoms, and was given away by Mr. William Ellis and was attended by Mrs. Frances Minnie Anniss, who was dressed in white blouse and blaek skirt, and Miss May M. Mills, dressed in white with blue sash. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. E. Beecroft.
