CHILDREN IN FANCY DRESS—PRIZEWINNERS AT THE NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BRIGADE BALL.

There have been few functions of the kind in New Plymouth more successful than the Volunteer Fire Brigade’s animal ball. As usual, the earlier part of the ball was devot'd to the children, of whom several hundred took part. (1) Miss Baba Angus (Dutch Girl), winner of the prize for the best fancy costume. (2) Clarence O'Brien (Dick Arnst and his boat), the most original boys’ costume. (3) Miss Florrie Lealand (a three-tiered wedding cake), the most original girls’ costume. (4) Honoria Moon (Teddy Bean, special prizes given by Mrs. A. 11. Glasgow and Mr. Horton. (3) Teddy Lambert (policeman), Mr. Hayden's special, (6) Jack Clark (Lord Nelson), best fancy dress (boys). (7) Miss O’Brien (Buttercups and Daisies), special prize. (8) Miss Ivy Doughty'(Blitterfly fairy), Mrs. H. r. Russells special. (9) Miss Drinkwater (Crossing Sweeper), ladies’ committee’s special. (10) Miss Doughty (’’Unity”). (11) Erie Kendall (The Doctor), Mrs. Home’s special. (12) Miss McGill, winner of Mr. Hayden’s prize for best fancy costume for girls Under 10..
