October 22. Bridge. Ou Thursday’ evening Mrs. A. H. Nicoll entertained a few friends at Bridge, when a most enjoyable time was spent. Aire. Nicoll was wearing a very pretty soft white embroidered muslin gown; Mrs. Scott, creme voile 'trimmed with silk embroidered insertion and yoke and sleeves of tucked net; Mrs. Caldwell, black and white spotted chiffon with border of pink roses over white glace, bodice made in fiehu style, with yoke and sleeves of rich white lace outlined in pale blue; Mrs (Or.) Roberts, white silk blouse trimmed with white and silver embroidery, and black silk skirt; Miss Gwynneth, black silk and net gown. Mrs. Farnall gave a most enjoyable little bridge party’ on Tuesday evening in honour of her guest, Mrs. Goodhue, of Parnell. Mrs. Farnall was wearing black silk, the bodice (trimmed with white point lace; Mrs. Goodhue, black chiffon taffeta with transparent yoke and sleeves of black allover laee; Miss Gwynneth, grey paillette silk trimmed with silver 'tissue and black brocade; Miss Gavey, white embroidered muslin blouse, and creme serge skirt. Mrs. Farnall has been giving a series of small bridge and musical evenings during the 'time Mrs. Goodhue has been with her.

Roberts was M.C., Mr. J. Byrne assistant AI.C., Air. James AlcNeish hon. see., and Messrs. AlcVeagh, Gardner, and Alartyn introducing committee. The supper arrangements were in charge of Airs. (Dr.) Edmonds, assisted by Alesdames Altuell, Potts, Alartyn, Haveloek-Green, and Stone. A lovely supper was provided, and the table decorations were quite unique, and were carried out by Airs, and Miss Veale. Excellent music was provided by Stevens’ Orchestra, from Hamilton. Personal. Archdeacon and Airs. Willis and Archdeacon Walsh left on Thursday for Auckland to attend the General Synod. The Misses Willis (2) left for Waihi »n a visit to their aunt (Airs. Alfred Clark). Airs. Seddon and her sister (Aliss Nicholson) left by Thursday’s train for (Auckland after being here three weeks. Airs. Haydon and her brother (Air. Al. Runciman), who have been for a trip to Rotorua ami Cambridge, left for Auckland on Thursday. Air. D. L. Caldwell has gone to Auckland for a few days. Aliss Frater returned to Auckland on Thursday, after staying with Airs. Wells, of “Oakleigh,” for a week or two.
