A BIG BLAST—SIXTEEN HUNDRED YARDS OF ROCK DISLODGED.

Hxtensive blasting operations are being carried on at ‘St. Bethani's Point, Mechanics’ Bay, Auckland. A big shot was fired last week, the seven kegs of powder being lammed into thlee holes. this blast dislodged 1000 yards of the face of the cliff. The spoil is being used by the Auckland Harbour Board for reclamation work in Quay Street.
