THE INAUGURATION OF THE NEW SERVICE. At 12.30 p.m. on Saturday the Union Company's steamer Aorangi (shown in the photo, alongside the wharf at Wellington) left Anckland on her long Journey of nearly 6000 miles across the Pacific to San Francisco. The Aorangi is scheduled to arrive at Rarotonga on October 27, Papeete on October 30, and to reach San Francisco on November 11. The service is a monthly one, and the next dispatch will be the Maitai, leaving Auckland on November 16.
