THE MORNING AFTER THE BIG FIRE AT TAUMARUNUI. Early last Wednesdaymorning a drstructive occurred at Taumarunui. The outbreak ocurred in the centre of a business block and it was not until an alley-way. 3 ft wide, between twobhildings gave the fireman a chance that the flames were subdued. Eight shops, a billiard saloon and a cottage were gutted. Fortunately, it was a still night, otherwise the whole of the main street might have been swept away.
