September 9. Musical Afternoon. A musical afternoon was given on I bur-day by Mrs. Frank Graham at her residen t- in St. Alban's, in honour of her daughter. Mrs. Le Cren (Dunedin), who is ■staying with her. Delightful songs were sung by Mrs. Gower-Burns and Mrs. Norman Mcßeth. Mi-s Muriel Ollivier accompanied them and afterwards played some pianoforte soloe. Mrs. Graham stood in the hall to receive her guests, —lie wore a handsome gown of black crepe de chine and cream lace; Mrs. Le Cren, a robe of rose-coloured crepe de chine with cream lace inserti.ms; Mrs. Julius, gown of black silk voile over white glace, black bonnet relieved with white: Mi-s Julius, navy olue cloth eoat and skirt, black and vhite hat: Mrs. Gower-Burns, gown of e.ixe blue cloth, black hat: Miss Burns, grey cloth costume and big grey hat; Mrs. Stevenson, green cloth costume, black picture h.it with plumes; Mrs. John Anderson, costume of vieux rose cloth, hat en suite: Miss D. A bridge party was given at Fendalton on Friday afternoon by Mrs. A. Paterson: quite a number of players were present.
