July 29. On the Links. There were a large number at golf on Wednesday, when afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. D. Meldrum and Miss Frankish. Amongst those present were: Mrs. John Anderson, Mrs. Darley, Mrs. Bayley, Mrs. Imlay Saunders, Miss Wilford, Mrs. Howarth, Miss Stevenson, Miss D. Chriritie, Miss Darley, Miss Hawken, Mrs. D’Arcy, Miss Bates, Miss Frankish, Miss Cowper, Miss Dymock, Miss Harper, Mrs. Meldrum, and others. Football. Tuesday was beautifully fine in the afternoon for the football match which was played on Gardens between the American Universities team and the Wanganui representatives. The game resulted in a win for Wanganui (18) to Americans (6). Amongst the interested onlokens were Mr. and Mrs. Gill-Carey, Rev. and Mrs. Dove, Mr. and Mrs. Crombie, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. and Miss Wilford, Mr. and Mrs. Paterson, Miss Stevenson, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson. At the Theatre. There was a large and appreciative audience at the Opera House on Wednesday evening, when the great pianist, Madame Teresa Carreno, gave her concert to a Wanganui audience. She wore a most becoming gown of black velvet made in Princess robe style, with trained skirt, the corsage and skirt having wide bands of beautiful gold thread embroidery. Amongnt the audience I noticed: Mrs. P. Krull, Miss P. Jones, Mrs. Janies Watt, Miss Gow, Miss Croucher, Mrs. and Miss Wilford, Miss Hawken, Miss R. Hawken, Mrs. G. Saunders, Mrs. J. C. Personal. Mrs. Aidworth, of Rangitikei, who has been staying in Wanganui with Mrs. E. Cowper, has returned-to her home. Mrs. Palmer, of Wanganui, paid a short visit to Wellington recently. Miss Dalrymple, of Bulls, has been staying in Wanganui. Miss' J. Wilson, of Bulls, is the guest of Mrs. Good, in Wangauni. Mrs. Carr, of Dunedin, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. John Stevenson, in

Wanganui. Miss Hawken, of Wanganui, has returned from her visit to Wellington, where she was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Coverdale. Miss Broad, of Greymouth, who has been staying in Wanganui with relations, has returned to her home. Mr., Mrs., and Miss Marshall, of Pahia’tua, have been staying in Wanganui. Miss Carew, of Dunedin, who has been visiting friends in Auckland, is staying in Wanganui with her aunt, Mrs. John Stevenson. Mr. E. Anderson, of Kawhia, is staying in Wanganui with relations.
