July 1. Hawke's Bay Hounds. The meet of the Hawke’s Bay hounds at Omaranui last Saturday attracted a large number of followers and onlookers. A good day’s sport was enjoyed. and everyone was most hospitably entertained by Mr and Mrs Kinross White. Amongst the many following were: —The Master (Mr N. G. Stead) on Starlight, Mrs Sunderland on The Sinner, Mrs llassal on Erin-go-bragh, Mrs O. Nelson on Dubious. Miss Sherrat on Diana. Russell on Bluey, llassal on Fiji, George Cotter il on Monte, T. Morrin cm Ever, P. White on Well Caught. Amongst the many looking on were: The Master (Mr IL M. Campbell), Mrs Campbell, Mrs Kinross White, Mrs Holt, Mrs Troutbeck, Mrs Shaw, Mrs Wenley, Mrs (,’. Tanner, Mrs Mackersey and party, Mrs Coleman and: party. Miss Moore, Miss White, and many others too numerous to mention. House Linen Tea. Airs Stopford and Mrs Chris ,Maclean invited a large number of mutual friends to a house linen tea,.at Mrs Stopfoiyd’s house on Monday last. All the guests arrived with parcels of various sizes, which were handed ove? to Miss Lees as gifts for her new mission house at Tokomam, East Coast. Sheets, towels, pillow cases, serviettes, table cloths, door mats, and blankets were amongst the many useful donations. D. I). McLean. Parma violet gown, hat to match; Miss McLean, goblin blue, hat ami veil to match; Mrs Cargill, green Dirvetoire gown; Mrs Rutherford, black cloth, white ami silver trimming; Miss ' D. Rutherford. Napoleon blue, black hat; Airs Ruddock, dark grey coat and skirt, black hat; Miss Ruddock, red; Airs Levien, cream, brown hat; Miss Largo, black silk, black hat ; Miss Wilson, black coat ami skirt, white revers; Miss Sutton. violet; Miss C. Sutton, him* and black; Miss Braithwaite, grey coat and skirt, blue hat. Songs were given by Airs Herdman, Mrs Levien, and Miss Large. Farewell Party. Miss Bulstrode and the pupils of the llubarc r<* Maori School gave a farewell party for Miss Lees on Monday night. After a song am! a canoe poi dance by the girls, the Bishop of Waipu made a Fpeet h wishing Aliss Lees good bye and fuiceoss in the mission work she was undertaking, and presented her on behalf of the school with a silver toast rack. Miss Ijcos. who was much moved by the unexpected gift, thanked the girls in a few words. Miss La rgi* and other guests then gave several songs, ami the girls delighted their friends with more pol dam es and “ Home, Sweet Home,” in Maori.

Preeentation. The members of the Bluff Hill Croquet Club assembled at Mrs. Brabant’s residence, Bluff Hill, yesterday afternoon to bid good-bye to their president/ Mrs. (Stedman, who is leaving shortly for Christchurch. Mrs. Brabant, in a very appropriate speech, expressed the regret of the members at Mrs. Stedman’s departure. They felt it would indeed be difficult to replace one who had taken such keen interest in the affairs of the ciub ever since its formation. Mrs. Brabant then presented Mrs. Stedman with a silver cake stand. In a few happy words Mrs. Stedman suitably responded, and wished the club every success in the future. Personal. Mrs. Guthrie Smith and Miss Zimmerman are on a visit to Napier. Dr. and Mrs. Lindsay (Auckland), are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Cornford, Hillcrest, Napier. Miss Spencer (Rissington), is spending a few days with Mrs. Stopford. Mr. Frank Logan and Mr. Charlie Nairn left for England on Wednesday, travelling by the s.s. Ruahine. Mr. and Mrs. Hill and Miss Hill leave by the Monowai to-night, en route for London, travelling via Canada. Mr. Hill intends lecturing in England. Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Marsh, Glen Murray, Auckland, who have been spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, at Waikato, returned with Mr. W. H. Nelson in his motor to Woodville, where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Nelson for the
