May 27. Children's Dance. Gisborne gaieties this last week have been chiefly confined’ to the juvenile portion of our community, no less than six juvenile dances having taken place. The hostesses were: Mrs F. T. Morgan, Kaiti; Miss Reynolds, ‘‘Sandown,” Chil-ders-road; MrsG. Stock, Whataupoko; Mrs F. Kennedy, Palmerston-road\ Mrs N. R. Barker, Whataupoko; Mrs Chas. Gray, Waiohika. Quite a number of adults have taken part in these children’s parties, which, in most cases, took the form of dancing, and seemed thoroughly to enjoy them. A Present to the Mayor. Presentations also seem the order of the day at present. Mr and Mrs W. D. Lysnar (Mayor and Mayoress) being presented) on Tuesday last with a very handsome silver salver suitably inscribed, and Wednesday night, on the wharf, with three beautiful travelling rugs, Mr. W. D. Lysnar going to London on business for the borough, and Mrs and little Miss Lysnar accompanying him. Personal. On Tuesday evening Mr W. Lissant Clayton was the recipient from the Borough Councillors of a beautiful silver tray, on the occasion of his marriage with Miss Mattocks, of Auckland, on June Ist. Colonel Beauchop is at present visiting Gisborne inspecting the local corps at present in eamp. Miss Rees, daughter of Mr W. L. Rees, one of the senior solicitors of Gisborne, received notice on \\ ednesday night that she had gained her LL.B, examination, Being previously an M.A., Miss Rees is now entitled) to be called to the bar. Mrs Kenway returned from South on Wednesday. Mr Herdman (Wellington) was in Gisborne this week. Mr and Mrs Williams left for Napier last Wednesday.
