April 22. Luncheon Party. The only social event which has taken place this week was a small luncheon party given by Mrs. Charles Clark, “Thorrington,” Sydenham. The guests were: Airs. XVardrop, Mrs. J. D. Hall, Airs. Leonard Clark, Aliss Nedwill, Airs. •I. Turnbull, Aliss XVvnn-M’illiams, and Mrs. Walter Fox. A Coming Event. The XX’aikari Polo Club will hold their annual ball this (Friday) evening, April 22. Air. Aleßae has lent his bouse for the occasion. It promises to be a great success. Quite a large number of Christchurch people will be present, in addition to the. club members. Polo sports are being held this afternoon. Personal. Mr. T. G. Russell, Mrs. and Aliss Russell have returned to Christchurch from a trip to England. Airs. A. XV. Holmes (Rakaia) returned from Napier yesterday, April 21. Airs. Gordon Holmes, ‘Qlolmslee” (Rakaia), is spending a few days in Christchurch. Air. and Airs. Cyril XVilliams (Hawke’s Bay) are the guests of Mrs. Wigram at Park-terrace. Christchurch. Miss Wilding, of Opawa, Christchurch, is visiting friends in Nelson. Airs. Borthwick has returned to Christchurch from Auckland. Air. and Mrs. Borthwick have postponed their proposed trip to England for several months. Air. and Airs. H. A. Knight (Racecourse Hill), the Aliases Knight, and Airs. .1. A ernon (Christchurch) have gone for a trip through the North Island. Air. and Airs. Alister Clark (Melbourne) have been staying with Airs. George Rhodes. ‘'Aleadowbank.” Aliss Betty Northcote and Aliss Bathgate (Dunedin) have been visiting Airs. Walter Moore (St. Albans). Aliss Symes and Aliss Park have returned io C'liristcTnireh from Wellington. Airs. Duncan Cameron (Springfield) is the guest of Airs. Boyle at Riecarton.
