Marshall (Wanganui) succeeded in guessing ’he largest number of flowers, and obtained the firs; prize, and Miss B. Russell gained the second. The day was so fine that afternoon tea was served in the summerhouse and on the lawn. Mrs. Wilding wore a dark green tweed coat and skirt bra: led in black, hat with shaded brown ostrich feathers; Miss Wilding, a pretty frock of rose coloured mousseline de sole, white hat with pink and red shaded roses. The Christchurch Comedy Club gave two highly successful performances of

‘ Lady Huntworth’s Experiment” in the Theatre Royal on Monday and Tuesday evening. The house was well filled on

each occasion. The leading lady was Miss May Miller, of Sumner. Others taking part were: Miss C. M. Thorpe, Miss Beech and Miss Marr, Messrs. Comerford, Armstrong, Williamson, Young. White, and C. J. Smith. Mr. A. Bttnz was leader of orchestra. Orchestral Society.

The Christchurch Orchestral Society gave the first concert of t-heir season on Thursday night (April 14th) at the Theatre Royal. Miss Winnie Nixon charmed her hearers with hex delightful singing of Mallinson’s songs. “Snowflakes’’ and “Thank Me Not.” Miss Doris Mclntyre (violin) played the solo in Reinecke's “Romanze.” with orchestral accompaniment, and Mias Alma Wells (piano) gave Schumann's Concerto. Mr. A. Bunz conducted and Dr. Crooke played the piano accompaniments for the v ocai numbers. Personal. Miss Park has returned to Wellington from Christchurch. Miss Chaffey (Culverden) is the guest of Mrs. C. F. Thomas, at Andover street, Merivale. Visitors to Christchurch include: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Studholme (Palmerston North) are the guests of Mrs. Wigram, Park Terrace; Mrs. Duncan Cameron : Springfield), Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Beaky (Horarata)), Mrs. Stopford (Napier i, Mrs. Orbell (Waimate) ; Mrs. H. Worsp ) Auckland) ) is staying with her sister. Dr. Eleanor Baker, Worcesterstreet; Air. and Mrs. Donald Ale-Lean, who were staying with Mrs. Nancarrow, Armagh-s-reet, have returned to Mt-. Hutt. Mrs. and Miss Elworthy have returned to Christchurch from Napier. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes and the Misses Holmes (Bangor) have left for a motor tour to Dunedin and Invercargill. Miss Lean (Christchurch) is staying with friends in Timaru. Miss Bloxam (Merivale) is in Timaru. Mrs. Deans (Riccarton) left Christchurch for Wellington on Monday to attend the marriage of her eldest son, Mr. lan Deans, to Miss Humfrey, at the Hutt. ......
