GISBORNE.
March 8. Anglican Church Bazaar. Bishop Averill, who arrived in Gisborne late on Wednesday afternoon, having been detained up the coast by the recent storm, opened the bazaar formally at 8 p.m., though business had been briskly carried on during the afternoon. The Hon. G. Fowlds and Mrs. Fowlds, accompanied by the Mayor and Mayoress, visited the bazaar during the evening. Hon. G. Fowlds. On Thursday afternoon the Hon. Mr. Fowlds formally opened the High School just completed, Mrs. Fowlds unfurling the new flag made by the scholars of the school. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies, and a very pleasant afternoon spent. Friday afternoon was devoted to motoring Mr. and Airs. Fowlds round the country to see the different requirements of the district. During the Stonn. Quite a number of Gisborne residents staying at Morere during the stormy weather found they were unable to return, and so had to take passage to Napier, and so home. Amongst the number were Messrs. Fenwick, Palmer, Stock, Cato, Murphy, Thomas, etc., and Mrs. Maclean and Miss Maclean. Personal. Mrs. Adair, accompanied by her son, Mr. P; Adair, left for England on Wednesday evening last. Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Barker left for Canterbury on Wednesday last. Mr. and Mrs. J. Murphy returned on Wednesday from Rotorua. Mrs. Ludbrook (East Coast) returned this week from a trip to Auckland. Rev. sent visiting Gisborne.
