McCormick) spoke on the subject of the benefit, thanking Picton people for their assistance towards the benefit. Personal. Tlie Rev. T. J. Smith, vioar of Holy Trinity (Anglican) Church, who has been in ill-health for some time, is going to Rotorua for a trip. His many friends hope to see him return quite restored to health. Mrs. Vickers has returned from an enjoyable holiday spent in Nelson. 'Mrs. Welfor'd is with Mrs. Riddell for a week or so. Mr. and Mrs. H. Baillie have returned from the Sounds and are staying at bVaitohi House. Miss Nicoll, headteacher of the Marlboroughtown School, has obtained a year’s leave of absence from the Board, and left Pieton for England on Saturday last. Miss Nicoll and her sister, who accompanied her, intend visiting the continent and studying the different methods of teaching there as well as in England. Mr. and Mi's. H. Stace, who were married last week at Marshlands, spent a portion of their honeymoon at Miss Chaytor’s residence, Waikawa. They left on Saturday for a trip to the North Island. The wedding was a very quiet one, owing to the absence in England of (Tie bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Chaytor. Only members of the two families were present. Miss Beauchamp, who has been spending a few days in Pieton with hex- aunt, Mrs. A. Beauchamp, has returned to Mahan, where she resides with hex’ sister, Mrs. Anderson. BELLE.
