Too Old at Forty.

Mr. Douglas Vickers, a member of th® firm of Vickers, Maxim and Co., tn® Tory candidates for Brightside, Sheffield, was asked at one of his election meetings a few weeks ago how old he was. Upon Mr. Vickers replying that he was forty-five, his questioner retorted, “That will do for me. 1 axed for a job at your works t’other day, and was told 1 am too old at forty-two. You are too old for my vote!” If in truth “too old at forty*' be one of the maxims of dickers, Maxim and Co., Mr. Vickers may be said to have been very hard hit by the recoil of his own Maxim.
