March 2*. Tennis. Last Saturday afternoon the attendance at the Marlborough Lawn Tennis grounds was not nearly so good, no doubt on account of the season drawing to a close. Miss Fulton provided a dainty tea. Some of those present were: —Mesdames Reid, Orr, R. McCallum. B. Clouston, Innes, Griffiths, Greenfield. Bennett, Walker. R. Adams, Scott, Wastney (Nelson), Carey, Misses Bell (2), Neville (3), Marsh, Horton 12), Urquhart. Fulton (3), Eyes (Christchurch), Johnson, Winstanley, Messrs. Moore, Parker, Broadmore, Borck, Griffiths, Bagge, Fisher, Scott-Smith, Dr. Bennett and Anderson. Small Afternoon Tea. Mrs. S. Howard entertained a few young people at her pretty residence in Maxwell-road on Saturday afternoon. Those present were: —Misses Clouston (3). R. Horton, B. Griffiths, Chaytor (2), G. Rutherford, Grace (2), M. McNab, Messrs. Monro and Morris. Afternoon Tea. On Tuesday afternoon the Misses Neville, “Thurston,” gave a handkerchief tea for Miss Maud Clouston, who is shortly to be married. Afternoon tea was served in the drawing room and on the verandah. Personal. Mrs. F. Fanner has returned from a lengthy visit to Wellington. Mrs. T. Carter Burleigh is visiting Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. H. Redwood (Napier) are staying with Mrs. W. Clouston, “St. Andrews.” Miss Western (England), is visiting Mrs. Radcliffe, at "Barewood.” Seddon. Mr. Berlyn, South Africa, is the guest of Mr. -and Mrs. J. Mowat at "Springlands.” Hon. C. 11. Mills. Wellington, has been spending a few da vs in Blenheim. Mrs. W. Adams. "Langley Dale,” has returned from visiting friends in Auckland. Mrs. C. Mills, "Kia Ora,” is visiting Wanganui. Mr. R. McCallum has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Miss Metcalfe, who has been the guest of Mrs. J. G. Wilson, has returned to Auckland. Mrs. Booth, North Island, is the guest of Captain and Mrs. Canavan in Steven-son-street. Mrs. Stevenson Smith has returned front Gisborne. Mr. A. Harley, Nelson, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. B. Clouston at Springlands. Miss Amur! Neville has gone for a fewdays to Wellington.
