THE CONTEST FOR THE PLUNKET SHIELD—AUCKLAND V. OTAGO.
The I'lunket Shield match between Auckland and Otago attracted a great deal of attention. Auckland put on 579 for their first innings a record for interprovincial cricket, beating that made by Auckland when they won the shield from the Canterbury representatives. On that occasion the total was 539. 1. A. E. Keif, the English international, who scored 118 in Auckland’s first innings. (2) X. C. Sneddon. (31 W. Brooke-Smith, captain of the Auckland eleven. 4. L. G. Ilemus, who scored 109 in Auckland’s first innings. 5. F. Taylor (Auckland). 6. C. Olliff (Auckland). 7. 11. G. Seideburg (Otago). 8. G. C. Wilson, captain of the Otago team. 9. K. M. Rutherford (Otago). 10. A. Hadden (Auckland). 11. E. Horspool (Auckland). 12. T. McFarlane (Otago). 13. W. M. Beal (Otago). 14. A. Anthony (Auckland).
