RIDDIFORD—JOHNSTON. < O / F FASHIONABLE wedding of eon- / I siderable interest was solemJ nised at St. Mary’s Church, Takapau, on Tuesday last, many guests from Napier and Hawke’s Bay generally being present. The bride was Miss Meta Johnston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Johnston, of Orua Wharo, and the bridegroom Mr. Daniel Henry Riddiford, son of Mr. Edward Joshua Riddiford. The clergyman officiating was the Rev. Father Johnston. A special orchestra from Waipawa was engaged for the function, which rendered the “Sandringham March,” on the entry of bride and bridegroom, the “Ave Maria” and Beethoven’s “Wedding March.” The bride was given away by her father, and looked graceful and charming in a Princess gown of .rich ivory moire, with lovely laee and embroidered roses. She also wore a handsome embroidered tulle veil, and wreath of orange blossoms. There were eight bridesmaids—the Misses Nancy Johnston, Doris Johnston, Ruth Humphries, Gwendoline Mason, Florence St. Clair Inglis, Ida Dunean, and Sophia and Marion Watson (little nieces of the bride). They all wore charmingly picturesque Romney frocks of ivory satin charmeuse, with lace fichus and pale blue girdles, with pale pink roses. The elder maids wore large black hats, trimmed with silver sequined lace and pink roses, lined with pale blue, and finished with pale blue strings. The little girls wore quaint and becoming mob caps. The best man was Mr. Arthur Herrick. During the afternoon a brilliant gathering assembled, when Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Johnston, whose hospitality is proverbial, held a reception at their lovely home, and entertained about 400 guests. Mrs. Sidney Johnston received her guests in a lovely gown of rich black laee over glace, and large black hat with deep crimson-roses. The toast of bride and bridegroom at the breakfast, which was partaken of in a large marquee, erected on the lawn, was proposed by Sir William Russell, who mentioned that he had known the father and grandfather, and also the mother and grandmother of both bride and bridegroom, and if heredity went tfor anything then the young couple just married should have a very happy life before them. Mr. and Mrs. Riddiford were the recipients of many valuable and useful wedding gifts from their hosts of friends. JORDAN-HAMILTON A very pretty wedding was celebrated on the 2nd inst. at the Mt. Eden Baptist Church, Auckland, the contracting parties being Mr. A. R. lordan, of the Public Trust Office, Auckland, and Miss E. Hamilton, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Hamilton, “Bellwood,” Mt. Roskill. The Rev. Howard Elliott officiated, assisted

by the Rev. C. B. Jordan. 8.A.. brother of the bridegroom. The bridesmaid" were the Misses Jean and Dorothy Hamilton, sisters of the bride, and Rita Leu in and Evelyn Petrie, cousins of the bride. The bridegroom was accompanied by Mr. H. Overtun as best man., and .Mr. ('. Hamilton as groomsman.
