A PROMISING NEW COALFIELD.
A Wellington syndicate has acquired a large eoal bearing area, situated about six mile«s from Ngarua waliia. Waikato, on which most favourable reports have been made. Mr .1 Hayes, E.S.S< .. has estimated the quantity of coal available as X’.000.000 sale tons. The first undertaking of tin* company will be to construct a branch railway and bridge a«Tv*s the Wnipa Kiver, so as to connect their property with the Main Trunk Line. In the photograph the thickness of the seam is shown by the full height of the waterfall.
