Auckland—First Grade. WINS FOR PARNELL, UNIVERSITY. AND NORTH SHORE. The district cricket championships were continued on Saturday at the Domain, Eden Park, and North Shore, the fifth round being concluded. Wins were registered by University, North Shore, and Parnell. The feiiowing table shows the position a of the various teams up to last Saturday:—!

UNIVERSITY V. GRAFTON. Grafton, with ascore of 238 to face, commenced their innings with Jones and Horspool. The opening batsmen were very successful, and when the third wicket fell, 130 was on the board. Taylor then got on the job, and the Grafton batsmen shaped very badly to his deliveries. The score, however, mounted up slowly off the other trundlers. but when the last wicket fell they were 23 short of University’s total. With about half an hour io go, University went to the wickets again and at the call of time had lost two wickets for 41 runs.

NORTH SHORE v. PONSONBY. The North Shore-Ponsonby match was resumed and concluded at Devonport on a fiery wicket. Going in with four wicketa down for 94. Ponsonby increased their first innings total to 149, or 72 runs less than the Shore men had made. Shore went in to hit off as many runs as possible in a limited time, but nobody got going really well, and the innings was closed with seven wi< kets down for 89. Requiring 161 runs for a win Ponsonby went to the wickets. The telegraph showed one wicket for no runs, then two for 5, and then three for 14, but Woods and Sneddon became associated, and the total was raised to 65 before Woods was clean bowled for 40—the luckiest innings in the match. Sneddon continued to play well, and after White had been bowied after scoring a pair of singles, Hobson joined him, and the two treated the Shore fieldsmen to some lively exercise. They carried their bats out after making up the total to 134. The result of the match was, therefore, a two-point win for North Shore. EDEN V. PARNELL. This match was concluded at Eden Park, and resulted in a two-point win for Parnell on the first innings by 45 runs. Parnell concluded their first innings for 147 runs. Eden went in. and after making 126 runs for three wickets declared the innings closed. Parnell went in again, and three wickets quickly fell to Relf’s bowling. But Fairburn and Wright made a stand, the time expiring just as Wright was bowled. Thames. The first round of the cup competitions was concluded on Saturday. Haur&ki B were defeated by Tararn A by an innings and five runs. Tararu B and Hauraki A played a very exciting gamp, the latter winning by three wickets. An endeavour Is being made to arrange matches during the season with some of the Auckland clubs. Waihi. The Waihi Suburbs team defeated the Karangnhake representatives on Saturday at Karangahake by 105 to 67. Wellington. The senior cricket mat-chee were continued on Saturday in showery weather.

The North T. East B match wan abandoned by agreement when heavy rain fell at lour o'clock, North winning on the first innings. An exciting finish between Central and South ended in a win tor Central just on time. South’s second innings dosed for 66, Hawthorne taking seven wickets for 31 runs. This left Central with 28 to get to win, with only a few minutes to play, ’they secured the necessary runs for the loss of five wickets. Fust A defeated Victoria College by an innings and 43 runs. Victoria College made HO in their second innings, of which Griffiths contributed 21. Hickey took seven wickets for 22 runs. Christchurch. The fourth round of the first-grade cricket matches concluded on Saturday. West Christchurch (198 and 113) beat Sydenham (160 and 147 for nine wickets). St. Albans, 449 for four wickets, innings closed (B. B. Wood 201, E. E. Crawshaw 91, and H. C. Wilson 75 not out), and 60 for three wiekets, beat Rieearton (183). East Christchurch, 238 and 235 (W. Carlton 87 and J. Crielrton 78), beat Linwood, 190 (W. King 62). Mr. D. Reese has chosen the following team to play aginst Otago at Laneaster Park next Saturday:—J. H. Bennett, C. Boxshall, W. Carlton, P. Carlton, E. E. Crawshaw, H. B. Lusk, S. A. Orchard, W. W. Patrick, D. Reese, A. Sims, B. B. Wood; twelfth man, A. H. Addison. Dunedin. The cricket matches were continued on Saturday in perfect weather. Grange, playin against Albion, made 60 and five for no wiekets, while Albion compiled 182 in their first innings (Baker 39). Carisbrook B put up 232 in their first Innings against Dunedin (Macartney 83, Drumm 48, Austin 42). Dunedin lost two wickets for 49 (Wilson 28 not out). Carisbrook A met Opoho, the latter • compiling 124 (Callaway 53). Carisbrook A made 145 for the loss of six wickets (Fisher 70, Rutheford 42 not out). The following team will represent Otago against Canterbury at Christchurch: —■ Austin, Downes, Fisher, liiddleton, Macartney, McFarland, Rutherford, Siedeberg, Wordsworth, Williams, Wilson. The following will represent Otago against Southland at Dunedin: -Cummings, Callaway, Macartney, Wordsworth, Hiddleston, McFarlane, Rutherford, Condllffe, Siedeberg, Austin, and Wilsou.
