Wellington Chess Club.

The fifth round of the Wellington Chess Club's current championship tourney was played on Saturday, and resulted as follows:—W. E. Mason won from E. Hicks, Barnes from Kelling, Still from Connell and Gyles, jun., from James. The penultimate round is set down for decision on Saturday next, the

pairing being: James v. W. E. MaaMk, Hicks v. J. A. Connell, Barnes ▼. StiL, and Gyles, jun., v. Kelling. The firstnamed has the move in each instance. Wellington. Workingmen's Chess x Club. A special general meeting of the Working Men’s Club’s chess and draught players was held yesterday, there being a good attendance off members. Mr. i Carmichael (president) occupied the Chair. With regard to the remits received from the New Zealand Chess Association, it was decided to support the proposal to establish an adjudicatioi board. The delegates (Messrs. Dalrymple and Milesi) were given a free ham. on the question of distributing congress prizes on the “Tietz” system. It was decided to close the current handicap chess tourney on the 22nd inst., and to nominate Messrs. F. K. Kelling (the present ehampion), and R. J.
