October I. The change from winter to summer has been very sudden this year in Napier, And winter games and entertainments are ing place already to summer pastimes •nd less strenuous out ! ? r sports. Most bf the ornqu*t. tennis and bawling clubs •r* opening on Saturday next, and all

the clubs will be in full swing in a week or two. Tennis in Napier. The Hawke’s Bay Tennis Club will open their new courts very shortly. They are situated on Napier South, and it is expected will be among the finest turf courts in the North Island. There are a very great many tennis enthusiasts in Napier, and besides the senior club, a number of juniors have taken over the courts lately occupied bv the Hawke's Bay Club.

Personal. Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Halpin returned from a visit to Auckland last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Eiehelbaum. of XX'ellington. are on a visit to Napier. Mrs. Thos. Hall, and her family are leaving Napier to join Mr. Hall, who has been removed to Auckland. Miss Margaret Simpson, of XVellington, is spending a holiday in Napier, and is at present the guest of Mrs. Kettle. Mr. and Mrs. Angus McKinnon are spending a holiday in town. Mrs. G. Rhodes and Mrs. A. Rhodes, of Springhill, are on a holiday visit here.
