September 30. Presentation. On Thursday evening the staff of the ■‘Marlborough Herald” drove down to tThurston and made a presentation to ftfr. and Mrs. 8. Neville, in connection nvith the 40th anniversary of their wed--oing. The presentation took the form »f a handsome illuminated address, and was presented by the editor (Mr. W. 'Alien), on behalf of the staff.

Sale of Work. The annual sale of work in aid of the New Zealand Church Missionary Association and the Melanesian Mission was Opened in the Chureh of the Nativity Schoolroom on Tuesday afternoon by the |Ven. Archdeacon Grace. The following Sadies were in charge of the various Etalls:—Mrs. V. Powell, sowers; Mesflames Rogers and McKenzie and Miss ■Norgrove; Mrs. R. Barlow, sweets; M isses Hale and E. Mowat, flowers; Mesilames Lord, F. Robinson, and Miss Moreland, Melanesian Mission: Mrs. Conolly, Misses Eyes, Carkeek, and Brown, secondhand books, etc.; Mesdames Duckworth, ICarkeek, and Misses Ross and Nossvorthy, afternoon tea. Some of those present were: Mrs. Adams, Mrs. MeNab, Mrs. Bull, Mrs. C. Mills, Mrs. Bacon, Mrs. Mrs. Poweil, Mrs, J. Mowat, Mrs. Redwood (Wellington), Mrs. A. Rogers, I. Rutherford. Personal. Mrs. W. Cannavan is visiting friends in Wellington. Mr. W. Gabites (Wanganui), who has been spending a few days with Mrs. W. E. .Clouston, has returned. Mrs. T. Grace, "The Vicarage,” is on * visit to Nelson. Hon. E. and Mrs. Townshend and Miss Townshend are visiting Wellington. Misses Vavasour (2) are visiting Napier. Mrs. L. Redwood (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs. J. Mowat, at “Springlands.” Mts. Pentreath is visiting friends in Wellington. Mr. A. Kellow (Wellington) has been visiting friends in Blenheim. Mrs. Staee (Robinhood Bay), who has been visiting friends in Blenheim, lias returned.
