AUCKLAND V. WAITEMATA. A very interesting match was played on Saturday between teams of th£ Auckland and Waitemata Golf Clubs at Cornwall Park, and resulted in a win for Auckland by seven wins to two. The scores were as follows:— , Nettleton (Waitemata) beat Colbeck (Auckland), 6 up and 4. Howden (W.) beat Heather (A.), 2 up and Purchas (A.) beat Guinness (W.). 1 up. O’Rorke, beating them easily, but put up a record for the links with a medal score of 72, beating bogey by 12 up. This is a phenomenal score. Hood having p’ayed every ball a true ball, with no luck. The links were heavy, and were not conducive to good goal, his score being, therefore, the more meritorious.

A Fine Performance. Hood, the Auckland Golf Club’s professional, put up a phenomenal record on Saturday afternoon at Cornwall Park links, when playing the best ball of J. C. Burns, a scratch player and late champion of the club, and E. D. O’Rorke, who Is on the three mark. Against bogey he was 12 up, and his medal score was 72, establishing a record for the links. Ills round was 4,4, 3, 6,4, 4,5, 4,5, equalling 38 out, and 5,3, 8,4, 4, 4. 4,3, 4 equalling 34 in. In the whole round there was not a single flukey shot, he playing perfect golf throughout. The performance Is all the more remarkable when the heavy state of the green fa considered.
