PALMERSTON NORTH

June 4. Bridge. Beyond a little bridge, I have nothing to tell you of this week. Last Tuesday night Mrs. A. Rennell, Linton-street, entertained a few friends at that fascinating game. Mr. and Mrs. A. Rennell. Mr. and Mrs. McKnight, Miss Gibbons, Miss: Randolph, Mr. Tyerman, and Mr. Scott were the players. Mrs. Rennell wore a pale green silk taffeta frock, prettily trimmed with lace; Mrs. Wallace (Havers), saxe blue cashmere Empire frock, with cream lace yoke and floral silk sash; Mrs. McKnight, black crepe de chine Empire dress, finished with cream spotted net and black and velvet rosettes; Miss Gibbons, pale blue voile and white lace; Miss Randolph, cream cashmere Empire frock, much trimmed on bodice with cream silk embroidery. On Thursday night, Mrs. Randolph, College-street, had a small bridge party. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Morrah, Mr. and Mrs. McKnight, Mr. and Mrs. A. Rennell, Mr. and Mrs. D. Reed, Miss Gibbons, Mrs. Bell, Messrs. Adams, Scott, and Reischer were the guests. Mrs. Randolph wore a black crepe de chine toilette, finished with white embroidered chiffon and black velvet ribbon; Miss Randolph, pale green crepe de chine Empire frock, with cream lace on corsage; Miss F. Randolph, white muslin and lace; Mrs. Morrah, cream eilk and lace; Mrs. McKnight, green Shantung silk, spotted net, and cluster of sweet peas on corsage; Mrs. Reed, golden-brown silk and cream lace, silk ■rosettes in hair; Mrs. Bell, black brocade, finished with black sequin trimming; Mrs. A. Rennell, green eilk and lace, pale pink ribbon threaded through hair; Mrs. Speneer, cream crepe de chine and lace; Miss Gibbons, black silk taffeta, beautiful cream lace on corsage.
