CAMBRIDGE.

May 1. Wednesday, the closing day of the Cambridge Tennis Club was glorious, and a most enjoyable time was spent. Progressive tennis was played, Miss Mary Pickering coming out top for the ladies, and Mr. A. H. Nicoll for the men. During the afternoon, trophies for the season were presented. Miss Cox and Mr. J. Cox won the gold medals for the championships, and the latter also won the handicap singles. Aimongst those present were:—Mrs. Cox, in black costume, and hat to match; Mrs. Lundon, in navy blue tailor-made coat and skirt, and Tuscan hat; Mrs. (Dr.) Rob.erts, green costume trimmed with cream filet laee, lovely sable furs, and green hat; Mrs. J. Hally, navy blue cloth, tai-lor-made coat and skirt and brown hat; Mrs. Dickenson, black costume and hat to match; Mrs. B. Couper, blue blouse, grey skirt and white hat; Miss Ethel Cave, white silk, and black hat lined with white and trimmed with black feathers; Mrs. Sinclair (Melbourne), red linen and. white hat. Afternoon-tea was provided by the lady members of the elub. Personal Items. Mrs. G. A. Clarke returned to Auckland on Wednesday from Cambridge, where she has been visiting her daughters (Mrs. Willis and Mrs. Richardson). Miss Matson is at present staying with Archdeacon and Mrs. Willis, of Cambridge, previous to leaving for South America this month. Archdeacon Walsh has been staying with Archdeacon Willis, of Cambridge, for a week, and leaves for Melbourne on May 6. Mrs. and Miss .Souter, of Auckland, We vistiing Cambridge for a few days.
