Off the Earth.
The Rev. Philip Shredanovitch, th» pastor of the Greek Orthodox Church nt Butler, Pennsylvania, is the largest at Butler, Pennsylvania is the latest pet of the humorists of the American Press. His announeeemnt of a new method of travelling has convulsed the country. Pastor Shredanovitch’s “discovery” is that it is easier to travel standing still than to move. By taking advantage of the rotation of the earth, the traveller is merely lifted up the earth, by means of an invention, the nature of which is kept a secret. This invention eliminates the force of gravity, says the pastor, and the traveller merely “stands still”—in the air—while the earth rotates. When the place where the traveller wishes to go comes lieneath him, he merely drops to earth again. Pastor Shredanovitch refuses to discuss the details of- his invention, but says that he intends forming a syndicate to put it on the market. © © ©
