Dear Bee, Feb. 19th. THE FLORAL FETE, held in the show grounds on Wednesday afternoon was a huge success. Punctually at 2 o’clock the Governor performed the opening ceremony. The long row of gaily decorated stalls in front of the membt rs’ stand did a brisk business, as did also the many side shows. A number of motor ears gave threepenny rides in the ring. The afternoon tea. stall did an enormous trade, and was under the < llu ient control of Mrs. O. Mowall, assisted by a small army of willing assistants. Other stallholders were: Sweetstall, Mrs. and the Misses Buick: prodine stall. Mrs. W. L. Fitzherbert; flower stall. Mrs. Cohen; Japanese stall, Mrs. J. A. Nash and Mrs. Aitcbison; lemonade stall, Mrs. A. E. Bennett; bookstall, Misses Rawlins and Watson. On Saturday last a team of TENNIS PLAYERS. went through to Feilding and played a match; they returned home triumphant, and delighted with the hospitality extended to them. Mrs Pickett and the Misses Wilson and Porter, and Messrs. Thompson, Adams, and Stedman, H. B. Smith, W. L. Fitzherbert, J. B. Wither,and D. Reid were the local team. On the same day a team from the Papaioea Club played the Palmerston Club’s second team, and defeated them 118 games to 108. On Friday a party of CROQUET PLAYERS. went up to Wanganui and played a match there. With the exception of three games, the Palmerston players lost every match. I hear that it is likely a Wanganui team will visit us and play a return game, perhaps then our players will put up a better record. Airs J. R. Tripe, Mrs J. P. Innes, Mrs Mellsop, Airs F. S. Mcßae, Mrs W. L. Fitzherbert, and Messrs. U. J. Munro, Mellsop, and Daniels, were those who made the journey. The annual sports in connection with CRAVEN COLLEGE took place on the Hokowhitu polo ground this afternoon in the presence, of a large number of relatives and friends of the- pupils.
