AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB’S SPRING MEETING. SYDNEY. October 7. The Australian .Turkey Club’s Spring Meeting was continued to-day at Randwick in fine weHtlw-r. In the decision of the Second Hurdle Race lhe New Zealand-bred horse Aeolus ueored another easy victory. Prior to the race Aeolus was purchased by Mr W. Lyons for 200 gs.

The spring racing carnival opened at Caulfield to-day under most auspicious circumstances. Wintry weather prevailed during the week, and bail, sleet, and rain fell on the day preceding the opening, when the sun shone brilliantly. The rain that had fallen favoured the appearance of the course, which never looked better, and made the lawns and surroundings bright and fresh. The suu tempted a large . number of ladies, and many spring fashions made up a picturesque -scene. The Governor-General (Lord Dudley) and party arrived long before the first race, and this being His Excellency’s first appearance at Caulfield, he ex-; pressed great pleasure at the surroundings. The New Zealand bred horse I’ink-’un. again demonsttafed that he is equal to playing his part well by capturing the Caulfield Stakes, which event was run over nine furlongs, under weight-fnr-age conditions. , The Tourak Handicap claimed the Auckland gelding Soultline as a contestant, and the New' Zealand division had the satisfaction of seeing the son of Soult lead his field home in the valuable handicap.’ The following are the details of the racing:— ■ The 1010 Welter Handicap of seven furlongs.—J.
