The Truth About the Gibraltar.
The cruiser Gibraltar lias arrived in Sydney. The trouble about gun sights was the result of the malicious act of one of the seamen, who has confessed to it. The Gibraltar had left Aden, and was steaming down the Arabian Sea in a strong monsoon when, one night, the gun sights were found missing. It was not till after she left Colombo that the culprit was traced, and he now awaits a court-martial here. The story about general disaffection is duo to an exaggerated story circulated in the Colombo Press. All leave privileges from the captain down were stopped at Colombo, and the canteen was closed so that Hie ship became very thirsty as the result of one man’s action. The damages amounted to £5OO. The act was one of sheer bravado.
